First Impressions

This lightweight mummy bag surprised us with its comfort, especially considering the snug foot area.

The Kelty combines a classic mummy shape with well-placed pockets, water-resistant 800-Fill DriDown insulation and special trapezoidal baffles that boost warmth. For a 3-season bag at this price point, it delivers impressive performance.

Sleeping Experience

The Cosmic Ultra 20F lives up to its high comfort rating, thanks to its down-polyester blend insulation. We stayed warm throughout the night and could move around easily despite the mummy cut (the wider footbox helps here).

The contoured hood provided excellent head support and warmth, sealing in heat without feeling restrictive. The smooth-running zipper with its insulated draft tube worked perfectly.

Our only gripe? We wish it came with a compression sack to pack down smaller.

Features Analysis

Kelty packed smart features into this bag. The 800-fill DriDown keeps you warm while resisting moisture, which is great for humid conditions.

Handy touches include an internal zippered pocket for essentials and that reliable anti-snag zipper system. While functional, the storage sack could be more compact for backpackers watching their pack space.

Construction and Durability

The 20D nylon fabric feels soft yet durable against your skin, while the specially treated DriDown maintains its loft even when damp.

The roomy footbox adds comfort, though we noticed the down insulation might shift toward the baffle edges with use. Fluffing the bag occasionally and proper washing will help maintain even warmth distribution.

Final Verdict

We can't stress this enough: it's seriously comfortable!

A dependable cold-weather option packed with quality details, from the water-resistant down to the comfortable fit. If you can overlook the slightly bulky packed size, you're getting a great night's sleep without breaking the bank.
